I have purchased the Green LED under glow light kit with two 30" lights and two 48" with controller for my wife's Lime green convertible new beetle. Every thing is up and installed but not working. I have 12 volt + power to both the yellow and red leads and the black ground is good. It is correctly set-up to the battery for testing ( final product will have disconnect switch and fused inline set-up. ) I checked the power and get 12.4 volts and ground has been verified with meter. Any clues why the system does not power up? I am an experienced auto and RV electrician and I have a feeling the controller is defective. Does anyone have a clue. Wiring was run with 12 GA. to the battery. Was trying this out for an RV install we are planning.

Hm. I'm not too sure exactly. Did you get the Optx kit or the SG?

I assume these are the instructions (or similar) you are using? www.streetglow.com/products/instructions/anled100.pdfDo ANY lights come on at the controller itself? Even if they don't it looks like you're hooking it up correctly(according to the instructions above) and have confirmed that it's getting power and ground. If you bought it at a brick and mortar store they might swap controllers with you or have another way to test it or help you out.

I would suggest returning it for refund or replacement with functioning kit! A return/exchange policy should have accompanied your receipt. Best of luck; keep us up to date.

You may have fried the controller by hooking up the ignition wire and the power wire to a constant instead of the ignition to a switched power source. I did the same thing and had the same outcome but mine took some time this is just my guess. Try for a replacement. What they dont know wont hurt them lol

I was bale to get the controller to come on function properly after jarring the controller several times. System now works, but controller will come on without turning it on when there is a voltage change. Talked with Manufacturer and they will send me another controller when I send them the receipt copy. I plan I doing that today.
Secondly, The ignition wire and hot power wire MUST be connected to test out unit. They must be connected or the system will not operate at all. Constant voltage does not matter as it is always on with the ignition on or off depending upon how you hook it up to the ignition circuit. The voltage would be the same when on. I went over the set-up and meter readings on the car and the ground was solid, ohms were good. The power was 12 volt at both red and yellow power wires. Looks just to be a freak bad controller.

The ignition CANNOT be hooked to a CONSTANT positive. It has to be on a switch and the red wire with the fuse has to be connected to a constant power(or you can have them both on a switch) this is what i was told from SG when i fried mine.

Take it back to the VW dealer. Ask them to install it using the proper German polarity on the wiring.

Volkswagens use German Engineering, therefore chinese made lights will not work due to the difference in polarity. You must change the headlight bulbs as well and as it is a volkswagen you need special tools to change the bulbs or the halargon gas inside could leak out and burn a hole in the ozone layer.
