A friend is going to be selling me a 1996 Mustang GT in a few months and I'm already looking for parts. The one thing I'd love to do is modify the cars body style to something a little more agressive. Right now, I am looking at this body kit style and I think it'd look really nice. What I'm looking for is some suggestions to what I need to watch out for, such as clearance issues ( I DON'T want to be scraping concrete). Also any thing else you would have a concern with. Thanks in advance Body Kitwww.andysautosport.com/ford/1994_1998_mustang/exterior/body_kits/vision_auto/visi00132585.html

It's still uncalled for when imports look like that. IMO you'd be better off lowering the vehicle and doing a few subtle modifications instead of a body kit. I also advise against any type of aftermarket spoiler. Honestly what I think really makes performance cars look hella-sweet is big rear tires (9 inch wide or so) that come out to the edge (or near the edge) of the car instead of being tucked under the fender like they usually are stock. This is what I like most about my ZX. Heck, even my 2001 Impala looks better with beefier tires on rims that stick out a bit more than stock. It gives the car a much more agressive stance IMO.

I agree with Omega....its a mustang....dont turn it into something its not ment to be the best thing to do to a mustang would be "under the hood" work maybe a little interior work and once again lower it and nice wheels youll be all set

Yeah, True, But the thing is that the guy has horrible body flaws like scratched paint and dents. That's why my plan was to get it fixed with that one body kit one it.
Thanks though, if anybody does like this idea hah can you point out any good body kits. of course if you don't mind helping me look

im not a fan of it either...doesnt matter though its not my whip...do what ya like obviously...what color is it? i bet you can find a body kit that will make it look like mitsubishi but still give you an aftermarket look...

its not that i want to make this mustang a poser form of some GTR or a mitsubishi
id like to to simply have a "custom" look, although im thinking im going to settle for a front bumper lip coupled with some lowering street springs. Get to get some kind of aggressive stance

Are there really a lot of dents on the car...especially ones that will be covered by the side skirts? Bumpers are easy enough to buy stock, paint them and throw them on. So IMO the bumpers aren't a big deal and neither is paint (since the body kit would need painted anyway).
I'll also raise the question: Are you getting the car for a good enough deal to have to worry about and fix all of this stuff?

well i looked off of KBB and the car is worth something over $3,000 (1996 Mustang GT : Fair) Either way, i'll take some pictures tomorrow when I go to test drive it, and the bulk of the damage is this. I'll list it ha - The negative battery cable is missing its toobing, totally exposed and corroded - The side of the car is pretty banged up and missing paint - The Speedometer wont work - The blinker lights flicker tooooo fast compared to other vehicles ( I just don't like that ) - And above all, its an automatic , not really anything wrong but not what i like
